BACKGROUND
- Toor, 69, of East Meadow, is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election.
- He received his undergraduate degree in math and economics from Punjabi University in India.
- Toor is a tax preparer and previously worked for the New York City government and New York State government.
 
ISSUES
- Toor said he wants to provide afterschool programs to keep kids focused on academics and to steer them away from drug use, which he said is a big problem in the suburbs.
- If elected, he said he wants to give law enforcement the tools to communicate with immigrant communities to protect them from scams, like those that use artificial intelligence or take advantage of their limited knowledge of English.
- Toor said he wants to find ways to ensure that sick people can afford access to health care specialists by opening communication between elected officials, insurance companies and doctors.
