BACKGROUND:

  • Stein, 28, of Central Islip, has worked for five years as an aide to Legis. Al Krupski Jr. and previously to Legis. DuWayne Gregory and Rob Calarco.
  • He has also worked for the Town of Babylon as a community service aide overseeing the town’s Direct Support Program.
  • He has a bachelor’s in political science from Stony Brook University. 

ISSUES:

  • Stein said that if elected he will serve full time and focus on quality-of-life issues, including providing clean drinking water, well-kept beaches and parks and roadway repairs. He said he supports putting the tabled sewer expansion plan up for a referendum vote. 
  • He said his priorities include demanding safety improvements on county roads, rooting out graft and limiting the outside income a legislator can receive.
  • He said he also wants to work with the Town of Islip to reduce pollutant runoff into Lake Ronkonkoma and the Connetquot River, establish a recurring small-business support program and improve Suffolk’s bus system.
