Debra S. Mule is running for Nassau County Legislator, 6th District
BACKGROUND
- Mulé, 63, of Freeport, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic Party line in the general election. She is seeking reelection.
- She served three years as a trustee of the Village of Freeport and nine years on the Freeport Public School District Board of Education, including two as president.
- Mulé graduated from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and has a master’s degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
 
ISSUES
- Mulé has focused on infrastructure projects, including $13 million for improvements to Baldwin’s Grand Avenue Complete Streets project and a multimillion-dollar overhaul of Centennial Park in Roosevelt.
- She continues to emphasize environmental issues, including the Bay Park Conveyance Project to ameliorate pollution in Reynolds Channel in Freeport.
- She said she pushes for resources for police, including addressing a continuing shortage of detectives and advocating for mental health resources for law enforcement and first responders.
