Wood said he works on a foundation of knowledge concerning real estate and site development from his undergraduate degree. He added he has worked for more than 20 years in the tech industry, handling large databases and managing offices. “We [the town assessors] are really nonpartisan. We run on our strengths to get the job done,” Wood said. “Database management . . . computer management skills . . . those types of things are very relevant to the position.”
Wood, 48, of Shelter Island, is running on the Republican and Democratic party lines to fill an unexpired term. He has served six months in office as a town assessor. He received a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Cornell University. He is the co-founder of Ceros Inc., a tech company he ran from 2007 to 2012. He is married, with two children.
