BACKGROUND: Giuliani, 36, of Manhattan was an assistant to former President Donald Trump, serving roles in Trump’s campaign and as associate director of the Office of Public Liaison. Giuliani was a former professional golfer after playing on the Duke University golf team. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in marketing, management and sociology. He worked in finance in Manhattan, where he grew up and also worked as a news analyst for the conservative Newsmax Television. Giuliani is the son of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
ISSUES: Giuliani said building the state’s economy is a top priority along with reducing crime. He is opposed to many state regulations and other issues that he says curtails business growth. He said he is opposed to abortion. He said he also supports reviving the state’s death penalty and is opposed to stronger gun control laws. He said he supports a voucher system so parents can use their tax dollars to send their children to private schools. He said he would enact a historic tax cut to make the state more affordable to end an exodus of young people. He also supports term limits to improve ethical conduct within state government. Giuliani also supports expanding charter schools. He was criticized by advocates for transgender New Yorkers, when he said his daughter is female and “she’s going to stay a woman.†He says he would oppose what he called the socialist agenda of the State Legislature.
