BACKGROUND:
- Sorrentino, 56, lives in Huntington. Before working for the town he owned an automotive services and trucking business. He also is running on the Conservative Party line.
- He was appointed director of general services in 2018. He touts as accomplishments the beautification of the Village Green and Heckscher Park, and the implementation of an Adopt-A-Corner program.
- He is a fire commissioner for the Huntington Fire District. He said during the COVID-19 pandemic, he ensured the safety of first responders as well as effective response time for residents during emergencies. He is a Huntington High School graduate.
ISSUES:
- Sorrentino said he has the private sector business experience to better manage the department and the governmental knowledge to improve operations and fix the town’s roads.
- He said he would fight for the necessary funding to repave roads, fill potholes, ensure that streets are repaired and improve/streamline snowplow operations.
- He said he will ensure a regular maintenance of sumps to prevent flooding and other health/safety related hazards.
