BACKGROUND

• Sorrentino, 60, of Huntington, is a registered Republican running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. He was elected highway superintendent in 2021 for a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2022. 
• He touts paving a quarter of the town’s roads while prioritizing safety, efficiency and long-term infrastructure improvements.
• He is a lifelong Huntington resident and graduate of Huntington High School. Sorrentino owns an automotive services/trucking business. In 2018, he was appointed director of general services for the town. He is a volunteer Huntington Fire Department commissioner.

ISSUES

• Sorrentino said he will build on the success of paving one-quarter of the town in four years, setting a new bar and continuing to deliver the most aggressive and cost-effective road program in the town’s history.
• He said he will keep drainage a top priority, tackling flooding concerns by maintaining and improving catch basins, sumps and stormwater systems across the town.
• Another priority is continuing the equipment rehabilitation program and replacing outdated trucks with modern, reliable vehicles to improve safety and efficiency.
