Allen M. Smith is running for Town Justice, Town of Riverhead

Allen M. Smith

Smith, 73, of Riverhead, is running on the Democratic, Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform Party lines. Smith is seeking re-election. He ran unopposed in the 2012, 2008 and 2004 elections. He was appointed town justice in 2000 following the death of Town Justice Henry Saxtein. Smith, a lifelong Riverhead resident, won election as town justice that November. He is a presiding justice at East End Regional Intervention Drug Court, designated in 2003 in collaboration with Southampton Town Justice Deborah Kooperstein. Smith has been a senior Suffolk County attorney, Riverhead town attorney and an assistant Suffolk district attorney. He served as Riverhead town supervisor from 1976-80, and is a past member of the Riverhead school board. Since 1986, Smith has been a solo practitioner with a specialty in real property and will drafting. Smith graduated from Hobart College in 1965 and got his law degree at Syracuse University College of Law in 1967. He was admitted to the bar in the same year. He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Suffolk County Criminal Bar Association, New York State Magistrates Association and the Brehon Society of Suffolk County.
