Alison Esposito

Alison Esposito is running for New York State lieutenant governor

Alison Esposito

ALISON ESPOSITO

REPUBLICAN

BACKGROUND:

  • Esposito, 46, spent nearly 25 years in the New York City Police Department, beginning in 1997, and retired as a deputy inspector and commanding officer of the 70th Precinct in Brooklyn.
  • She grew up in Orange County’s Highland Mills and attended the State University of New York at Delhi and John Jay College of Criminal Justice as well as the FBI’s National Academy.
  • Esposito is the first openly gay GOP nominee for statewide office in New York.

ISSUES:

  • Esposito focuses on the need to reduce crime and provide police with the resources to combat, while fighting the “defund the police” movement.
  • She blames the law that eliminates bail for most nonviolent felonies for releasing dangerous criminals and said the measure adopted by the Democrat-led Legislature needs to be repealed.
  • She also said state government must do more to reduce inflation and overall reduce the cost of living in New York State that has some of the highest property taxes in the nation.
