Aamir Sultan is running for New York State Assembly - 10th District
BACKGROUND
- Sultan, 57, of Dix Hills, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. This is his second bid for an Assembly seat in the district.
- Sultan is a computer scientist who works as a big-data and AI management consultant. He is a member of the Suffolk County Asian American Advisory Board.
- He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Queens College and a postgraduate certificate in artificial intelligence and machine learning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
 
ISSUES
- Sultan said that if elected he would seek property and sales tax relief to help residents afford to remain on Long Island.
- He said he would work to tighten what he referred to as unchecked spending on programs for undocumented immigrants.
- Sultan said he would work to repeal bail reform laws and to fund and enable police through training to reach out to different cultural communities.
