Michael Henry

MICHAEL HENRY

REPUBLICAN

BACKGROUND:

  • Henry, 42, of Queens, is a lawyer who runs what he calls a boutique firm specializing in commercial litigation and creditor bankruptcy where he says he’s recovered millions of dollars in assets for clients.
  • He also has represented asylum seekers from China.
  • Prior to his law career, he worked in the mortgage business.
  • This is his first run for public office.
  • He has a bachelor’s degree from Montclair State University, a master’s degree from St. John’s University and a law degree from Touro University.

ISSUES:

  • He has focused on crime, criticized a change in the law to make most misdemeanors and non-violent felonies no longer subject to bail and opposes a proposal that would bar police from using lethal force unless there is no other option.
  • He says he would launch a criminal investigation into nursing home deaths due to COVID-19.
  • He says his opponent hasn’t done enough to investigate political contributions and public contracts.
