What’s the best way to get off Long Island?

Headed away from Long Island for Labor Day weekend? First, you’ll have to fight your way out.

Traffic on the bridges and tunnels (not to mention the roads to get there) is notorious. Tolls keep rising. LaGuardia Airport is under construction. What’s a weary traveler to do?

We know you’ve got your ways. Do you swear by the Whitestone when heading north? Do you favor the ferries to avoid the roads? When it comes to airports — do you stick to nearby MacArthur or head to airports in Queens? Tell us and your neighbors — whether trying to avoid traffic, tolls or extra mileage, how do you choose to get off Long Island, and why?
