2020-21 teacher and administrator pay
Nearly 230,000 teachers and administrators statewide, excluding in New York City, were paid nearly $17 billion during the 2020-21 school year, according to data reported to the New York State Teachers Retirement System obtained under the state's Freedom of Information Act. With payments that range from $766,780.94 down to $1.03 for the year, that amounts to an average of $73,904.89 for each member of the retirement system.
