Long Island towns and villages would lose $18,977,926 underCuomo's proposal to alter a state aid program.
Long Island towns and villages would lose $18,977,926 in state aid under Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's proposal to alter the "Aid and Incentives for Municipalities" program.
His plan calls for no longer providing the aid to communities where it covered less than 2 percent of expenditures in 2017, based on the theory that they no longer need the aid.
Here are details on the 13 towns, all of which would lose aid, as well as the 95 Long Island villages, of which six would continue to receive aid. Aid to the cities of Long Beach and Glen Cove would not be cut under the proposal. You can read more about how municipalities are dealing with the state aid cuts here.
