New York education officials say that the overall number of students boycotting state tests on English and math declined slightly in 2018 but that Long Island continues to be a stronghold of the opt-out movement.
State data contains only percentages for each district, without actual numbers of students, making it problematic to compute an Islandwide percentage for Nassau and Suffolk. For data compiled by Newsday when the tests were given earlier this year, which is more detailed but less complete, go here for English, and here for math.
