Barket said she wants to revitalize Plandome Road in Manhasset, saying there are too many empty storefronts in the downtown. She said the town could create financial incentives for landlords who keep their sites occupied. Barket said she would repeal the pay raises for town board members and other elected officials that were approved in 2013. Barket said she wants to increase the number of parking spaces available to shoppers in Manhasset. Barket said the town should relinquish spots in their municipal lots.
Barket, 46, of Manhasset, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Reform lines. Barket received her actuarial designation from the Casualty Actuarial Society, and has worked in the insurance and reinsurance industries. She holds a bachelor's in mathematics from Catholic University. Barket is on the executive board of the Immaculate Heart of Mary League, the board of directors of ACDS in Plainview, and is a member of the advisory committee of The Matthew Foundation for Down Syndrome Research. She is married with four children.
