Marlene L. Budd is running for Suffolk County Family Court judge

Marlene L. Budd

Budd, 50, of South Setauket, is an incumbent running on the Democratic and Working Families party lines in the general election. She has served as Suffolk Family Court Judge since 2006 and as acting Supreme Court justice since 2013. Budd, an attorney, was elected to the Huntington Town Board in 1995 and re-elected in 1999 and 2003. She served as councilwoman until 2006. Prior to running her own law practice from 1997 through 2005, she was with the law firms of Thomas L. Costa LLP; Billhimer & Budd; Payne, Wood and Littlejohn; and Lee R. Pearlman. She received a juris doctor degree in 1989 from the University of Baltimore Law School, a master's of Law degree from Columbia Law School in 1990, and a bachelor of science degree from Stony Brook University in 1986. Budd was admitted to practice law in the State of New York and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York and the New York Appellate Division, Second Department, in 1991. She is a member of the Suffolk County bar association and the District of Columbia bar association.
