John Schettino

Schettino, 59, of West Islip, is running on the Republican, Conservative, Independence, Green and Reform party lines in the general election. He has been principal law clerk for Acting Suffolk County Family Court Judge Philip Goglas since January 2015. Previously, he was a staff trial attorney for Russo Apoznanski & Tambasco, Esqs. in Melville from 2009-2014, a private practice attorney from 2002-2008, a staff trial attorney at the Law Office of Patrick L. MacDonnell from 1987-2002 and a paralegal at the same law office from 1982-1986 while attending law school. Before his law career, he was a risk management representative for Hartford Insurance Company from 1980-1982. Schettino was an Islip Planning Board member from 2007-2014 and served as chairman from 2012-2014. He received an associate degree from Suffolk County Community College in 1976, a bachelor of arts degree from SUNY Cortland in 1979 and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1986. He was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 1987 and is also admitted in the U.S. District Courts, Eastern and Southern Districts. He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, Columbian Lawyers Association and West Islip Chamber of Commerce.
