Stefanich said he is constantly updating the office technologically and is responsive to concerns or questions residents have about their tax bills. "I take great pride in that every piece of communication that comes into the office, be it a telephone call, a letter, a little note shoved in with a tax payment, something scribbled on the back of an envelope -- we answer everything," he said. "And we reach out to people and let them know we're here, that if you have a concern or a question, we'll give you the right information."
Stefanich, 70, of Syosset, is running on the Republican, Independence, Conservative and Reform lines and is endorsed by the Tax Revolt Party. He has served as receiver of taxes since 2000. Stefanich received a bachelor's degree in applied physics from the New York Institute of Technology and completed graduate courses in accounting and management at Montgomery College in Maryland.
