Grant M. Lally is running for Suffolk County legislator, 18th District

Grant M. Lally

"We need to reduce taxes and make Long Island more affordable for our families," he said. "Suffolk County has raised property taxes each of the last 4 years and has been designated 'fiscally distressed' by the New York State comptroller. We need to make Long Island affordable again for families, seniors and young people. Suffolk County needs to cut out crony contracts and stop wasteful boondoggles like the express bus and bike lane projects."

Lally, 53, of Lloyd Harbor, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Reform party lines. He is a managing partner at Lally & Misir LLP, a Mineola law firm. Lally ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 1994 and 1996 against Democratic Rep. Gary Ackerman and Rep. Steve Israel in 2014. He is a publisher of The Leader newspapers. He attended Garden City public schools. He received a bachelor's degree in international relations from Johns Hopkins University, a law degree from Boston University and an advanced law degree from Georgetown University Law Center. He and his wife have one child.
