SPORT: Basketball TEAM: Nets POSITION: Small forward INDUCTED: 1993 CAREER: 1971-1987 IN NY: 1973-1976 Erving averaged 24.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in 16 seasons for the Virginia Squires, New York Nets and Philadelphia 76ers. He led the league in points per game three times and total points twice. Erving averaged 24.2 points in 189 playoff games and won championships with the Nets in 1974 and 1976 and the 76ers in 1983. A 16-time All-Star and two-time All-Star Game MVP, “Dr. J” was the ABA MVP in back-to-back-to-back seasons for the Nets. He won the 1980-81 NBA MVP. He ranks sixth in NBA history with 30,026 points and 32nd with 10,525 rebounds.
