New York State in December 2016 awarded $62 million in aid to more than 100 projects on Long Island, ranging from $2.3-million to restore habitat at the headwaters of Mud Creek on the site of a former duck farm in East Patchogue, to $7,500 to the Town of North Hempstead to study its technical resiliency during extreme weather events and power outages.
