Ryan LaFlare flights for UFC fights

Long Island’s Ryan LaFlare began his mixed martial arts career by fighting for Ring of Combat in Atlantic City, New Jersey, a simple 162-mile drive from his home in Copiague. Since signing with the UFC, LaFlare has traveled the world to compete. His seventh UFC fight is Feb. 11, 2017, in … wait for it … Brooklyn, New York. Follow his career flight path below.

Note: Miles shown represent the distance from NYC to that city via World Atlas, and don’t reflect LaFlare’s actual flight itinerary. They also do not include the return flight back to New York.

Around the world . . . almost

The circumference of Earth measured at the equator is 24,901.55 miles. So, Ryan LaFlare is close to having flown around the world just to get to his fights in mixed martial arts, a sport that is still banned in his home state of New York. If you include the trips back to New York, he’s nearly been around the world both horizontally and vertically. (The Earth’s circumference from pole to pole is 24,860 miles.)

UFC fight 1: Stockholm, Sweden

Ryan LaFlare debuted in the UFC on April 6, 2013, in Stockholm, Sweden. He won a unanimous decision over Benny Alloway by hitting takedowns and controlling the entire fight.

UFC fight 2: Goiania, Brazil

In his second UFC fight, LaFlare won a unanimous decision over Santiago Ponzinibbio on Nov. 9, 2013, in Goiania, Brazil. LaFlare showed more of his striking game than in his previous fight and was able to absorb a few big shots from Ponzinibbio in the process.

UFC fight 3: Sacramento, California

A few days after beating Santiago Ponzinibbio in Brazil, LaFlare agreed to fight again in four weeks. This time, he won a unanimous decision over “Ultimate Fighter” Season 11 winner Court McGee on Dec. 14, 2013, in Sacramento, California. It is his only UFC fight in the United States thus far.

UFC fight 4: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

LaFlare had to go to the United Arab Emirates to pick up his fourth straight UFC victory. LaFlare (11-0 overall) won a unanimous decision over John Howard on April 11, 2014.

UFC fight 5: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Returning less than a year removed from knee surgery, LaFlare lost the first pro MMA fight of his career. He dropped a five-round unanimous decision to Demian Maia on March 21, 2015.

UFC fight 6: Las Vegas, Nevada

For the first time in two years, Ryan LaFlare fought in his home country, and he did so nearly flawlessly in winning a unanimous decision over Mike Pierce at The Ultimate Fighter finale in Las Vegas on Dec. 11, 2015.

UFC fight 7: Brooklyn, New York

After flying all around the world to fight for the UFC, the Long Island native LaFlare can drive or take the train to one of his fights. He faces Roan Carneiro at UFC 208 at Barclays Center.

2005-14 New York casino revenue

Eight of the state’s nine video gaming facilities have seen their revenue slow or decline in recent years. The one exception has been Resorts World Casino at Aqueduct Racetrack in Jamaica, Queens, which took in more than $792 million in the 2013-14 fiscal year, up from more than $696 million the year before.

Here are figures from the State Gaming Commission for each video lottery terminal parlor for every full fiscal year of operation, ending with the 2013-14 year. If nine gaming facilities are hard to track, click on names in the color key to remove places until you are down to one; then you can turn others on or off as desired.

DOC CLOUD EXAMPLES

The solar mass (M☉) is a standard unit of mass in astronomy that is used to indicate the masses of other stars, as well as clusters, nebulae and galaxies. It is equal to the mass of the Sun, about two nonillion kilograms. this is a doc cloud test link.

The value of the gravitational constant was derived from measurements that were made by Henry Cavendish in 1798 with a torsion balance. The value he obtained differs by only 1% from the modern value. The diurnal parallax of the Sun was accurately measured during the transits of Venus in 1761 and 1769, yielding a value of 9″ (compared to the present 1976 value of 8.794148″). If we know the value of the diurnal parallax, we can determine the distance to the Sun from the geometry of the Earth. this is a doc cloud test link.
